POW GNAR

up to summit for the "boxes for days" jam...

On friday January 15th, a group of the powgnar hooligans decided it would be great fun to drive up to Summit at Snoqualmie for a little overnight party and shred, it definitely turned out to be an adventure... In attendance we had jake, anthony, baker, mikey, and myself... Before making out of Vancouver around seven I had proceeded to watch some snowboarding vids and drink a case of beer, and hot waxed my board while waiting for anthony to get off work... We hit the road and proceeded to make the most of our designated driver... stopping only for more provisions and gas, we made good time pulling into North Bend around ten thirty that evening...

...Staying in a hotel right on main street meant a few local bars were only a block away and if you know the powgnar crew, you know we have a good time! Although my ability to walk a a straight line may have been impaired I took charge of the billiards table and beat out all the locals with some sort of drunken master pool playing... I bet there is a picture out there in internet land of me that night but I haven't found it yet... so after drinking one beer over the course of two hours I was still a bit wobbly and decided to hit the hay for an early evening at one... A couple hours later I awoke to jake and anthony getting all hulk-manina on each other... funny to say the least, until someone gets a dislocated shoulder... I rolled back over and got a few more hours of sleep...

...Waking in the morning, I was totally bummed to see that my video camera had dead batteries... Although the mountain turned out to be a fogged in sugar cone anyways, I was really hoping for some footage of any sort... We packed into the rig and make the quick trip up to Summit Central barely making registration... It was hilarious to watch the plethora of park kids and all the Saturday snow bums as they trampled around the lodge and lift lines... We made our way over to the park which turned out to be really super duper even though you could only see ten feet in front of your face because of the fog...

...The event featured an end to end mixture of boxes totaling 250 feet of sliding fun from one end to the other... mikey won some prizes by almost sliding the whole thing first try... He got ran into by an out of control shralper knocking him off the box towards the end... It was pretty hilarious considering that you could barely see the end of the box through the fog because it was so long... The park was a pretty fun setup with a fun dance floor, a corrugated pipe hit, some fun boxes, and few wild jumps and at least a dozen rails...

...Other than a few gnarly hangovers and a seperated shoulder, it was a pretty fun overnight rendezvous... and after a random detour, we were back on the road again heading for home... We even got to stop at burger king on the way, i love the bk veggie...
